There was some surprise that Shedeur Sanders didn’t get the No. 2 for his Browns jersey.

That digit is currently possessed by receiver/return man DeAndre Carter, a veteran. So Sanders is wearing No. 12 instead.

Will Sanders try to get No. 2 from Carter?

“I’m not trying to buy anything,” Sanders told reporters on Saturday with a laugh. “My signing bonus ain’t that high right now.”

The reporters then asked Sanders why he chose 12.

“It was the best available number for me. That’s it,” Sanders said.

The terse response could be in relation to the idea that Sanders is now rocking the same number as Tom Brady.

Sanders is having a tough enough time paving his own football path given who his legendary father is.

He surely doesn’t want his jersey number to be a major distraction.

It’s hard, though, given that Sanders is the most-hyped fifth-round pick ever.

He’ll have attention on him at all times. The best he can do is make his own Browns career a special one through hard work and clutch performance.
