Shedeur Sanders is one of one.

It doesn’t even matter whether you view that phrase as a compliment or a problem. It’s true. There’s no one quite like the Cleveland Browns fifth-round rookie quarterback.

Fox Sports commentator Colin Cowherd apparently disagrees.

“When I look at Shedeur, all I can think of is Johnny Manziel, Deshaun Watson, and Baker Mayfield,” Cowherd said on his show. “This is what happens, this is what losing causes. Hope it ends well, I’ve got my doubts.”

So, three first-round QBs and a fifth-rounder?

Sanders is a more accurate and traditional passer than Manziel, not the athlete of Watson and probably not the overall tough-guy package of Mayfield.

He’s got traits better than those guys, and traits worse.

But to just lazily compare Sanders to three former Browns is silly.

Shedeur may be a success, or he may not. But he’s different.

He experienced a shocking NFL Draft slide to the fifth round. Maybe that already makes him feel like a bust, but now he just has to outperform other fifth-rounders to be an actual, on-paper success for Cleveland.

He’s also got tons of hype, not unlike those guys, but much of it due to his last name.

Sanders is used to the attention, anyways. He’ll probably handle it just fine.

After all, he’s his own man. He’s been here before.
