The Cleveland Browns and Pittsburgh Steelers both still might need a quarterback.

They’re certainly well behind the 8-ball in the AFC North, where the Ravens have Lamar Jackson and the Bengals have Joe Burrow.

Very early in the offseason, both were connected to Aaron Rodgers, but his options list quickly dwindled to pretty much just Pittsburgh. He hasn’t signed yet, though.

In the meantime, the Browns acquired Kenny Pickett.

Both could look to draft a QB.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler predicts that one of the AFC North foes will snipe the other one for an NFL Draft quarterback they both want.

Cleveland has the No. 2 pick, and Pittsburgh has No. 21. The Browns are expected to take Travis Hunter at the second spot.

But then both teams will be watching to see if Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders starts to slide down draft boards.

If he makes it to 21, don’t be surprised if the Steelers take him. But the Browns do want him, too, and so they might have to trade the No. 33 pick and another asset to move in front of Pittsburgh.

“I know the Browns do have love for Shedeur Sanders, probably not at No. 2 overall at this point, but they like his sort of computer-mind processing ability at the line of scrimmage. I’ll say Browns for fun’s sake. Browns or Giants move up to get him,” Fowler said on SportsCenter.

Fowler laid out Sanders’ other options, too.

“The Steelers could be an option,” he said. “So, if he falls out of the top three, well not falls but if he doesn’t go in the top three right now I don’t see a natural home,” Fowler said on Sportscenter. “It seems like the Saints could go quarterback, but they might not do it at No. 9. They could go cornerback or offensive line, defensive line. So where does that leave if? If I had to predict I would say somebody trades up to get him. If he kind of slides into the teens or later in the first round.”

It would be the coolest narrative if the Browns and Steelers got into a little draft-night dual for their franchise QB. One would come out ahead of the other, and if Sanders turned out to be a bust, it could even be the one that didn’t get him.

Buckle up for draft night in Cleveland and Pittsburgh, that’s for sure.
