The Denver Broncos hold the No. 20 overall pick in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft and many draft analysts are starting to feel like that could be a slot other teams try to trade into.
The Broncos, no longer a team in desperation mode, could be willing to part with the selection in order to stockpile more picks. That is how Vinnie Iyer of The Sporting News sees things going in his latest mock draft.
Iyer has the Broncos sending their pick to the New York Jets in exchange for a future first-round pick and some extra picks in this draft. It would allow the Jets to get ahead of the Pittsburgh Steelers and select Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart.
The move would also see the Broncos helping out Darren Mougey, now the Jets’ GM, who spent over a decade in Denver’s front office.
“The Jets give up a future first-round pick along with some selection capital for this year to enter the back half of the first round to get their franchise QB. The Broncos are out of desperation mode, and it helps that GM George Paton’s former assistant Darren Mougey now is his New York counterpart”, wrote Iyer.
It would be an interesting move for the Broncos, but giving up their first-round pick this year, even if they get an extra first next year, could be a tough sell to the fanbase. Iyer’s mock also has Omarion Hampton and Colston Loveland — two popular first-round options for the Broncos — still on the board when this projected trade takes place.

The deal makes sense for the Jets. They get their quarterback of the future, taking him ahead of the Steelers, where he is mocked to go by nearly everyone. But does it make sense for Denver? That is debatable.
The Broncos will have a lot to evaluate in this draft and that will continue even after the selection process starts. Depending on how the board falls, the Broncos could be inclined to deal the No. 20 pick. But if players like Hampton and Loveland are still on the board, it might not be a great move.
