Broncos predicted to make huge trade up to select top superstar in NFL Draft

Broncos predicted to make huge trade up to select top superstar in NFL Draft

The 2025 NFL Draft is just over one month away and the Denver Broncos remain one of the more unpredictable teams in the first round.

The Broncos could go in several different directions, on either side of the ball. Trades are always a possibility in the draft and the team could move back to acquire more capital or it could move up to get the top player on their board. That is the route that Chad Reuter of NFL.com sees the team taking.

Reuter has the Broncos coming all the way up from No. 20 in the first round to No. 12, swapping spots with the Dallas Cowboys. Here are the terms of that proposed trade:

Broncos receive: 2025 first-round pick (No. 12), 2025 fifth-round pick
Cowboys receive: 2025 first-round pick (No. 20), 2025 second-round pick (No. 51)

To move up eight spots in the first round and also get a late-round choice in return, could be tremendous value, especially because Reuter has the team using the No. 12 choice to select Penn State tight end Tyler Warren.

I have made no secret that Warren might be the best potential pick the Broncos could make in this draft. Yes, they signed Evan Engram, but Warren is an incredible talent.

Taking a tight end in the first round would go against everything recently stated by Broncos 9News insider Mike Klis, who feels the Broncos should look at a running back with their first pick.

“It doesn’t make sense to take tight end Colston Loveland at No. 20, as so many mocksters insist, because of the addition of Evan Engram. You don’t want your No. 20 overall pick sitting for a year or two. So cross off the tight end position for No. 20. Maybe consider one at No. 85 in the third round, but not No. 20 in the first”, wrote Klis.

That makes sense, but only to a point. Engram will be 31 years old when the season starts and the Broncos have next to nothing behind him in terms of depth. If you can find a talented player to join him on the roster and groom him as an eventual replacement, it’s something that should be considered.

The Broncos SHOULD sign Taysom Hill when the Saints release him.

He would be a PERFECT mentor for Tyler Warren, or any joker player they draft/sign.

There is nothing that says that a tight end would have to sit for a year or two behind Engram. A talented offensive mind, which Payton is, could easily find a way to get both players involved. And if that player is Warren, you absolutely do that.

As stated before, Warren could come to Denver and give the team much more than a traditional tight end would. He’s a matchup nightmare in the passing game but he’s athletic enough to be used all over the field. In college, he carried the ball on run plays, lined up as the quarterback in the Wildcat formation and even threw passes. He would be similar to what Payton had with Taysom Hill in New Orleans, just quite a bit better as an overall talent.
