Could the Denver Broncos go from bare scraps to having perhaps the best tight end combination in the entire NFL in just over one month?

That would be the case if a trade between them and the Atlanta Falcons went down. Hery Acosta of Athlon Sports discussed how Kyle Pitts has been the subject of trade rumors and he lists the Broncos as a place where he could end up going in a potential deal.

“The best team on this list from last season is the Broncos, who had found a stud in the draft with Bo Nix. Nix led them to the playoffs in his first season and looks to be a star in the making. Broncos have had a tight end slump for a few seasons and they could be a team to make a move for Pitts.

They recently signed Evan Engram, who will be 31 by the start of the season and just came off an injury riddled campaign with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Pitts could be brought in as tight end one or two if Engram stays healthy”, wrote Acosta.

The Indianapolis Colts and New York Jets, two teams in desperate need of a new tight end, are the other teams on this list.

While the combination of Pitts and Engram sounds exciting, the Broncos are likely happy with the signing of Engram and will be content to look for a tight end in the later rounds of the upcoming draft. Texas tight end Gunnar Helm, a Colorado native, is a perfect prospect for the team.

Pitts was once the No. 4 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, but he has had an up-and-down career with the Atlanta Falcons. He’s caught 196 passes and scored 10 touchdowns, but as the best tight end prospect in years when he was selected, more was expected.

He would be a good target for Bo Nix in Denver, but still just 24 years old, the asking price from the Falcons would likely be quite high. It makes more sense for the Broncos to roll with Engram and look for a young prospect in the draft.
