Broncos legend Von Miller makes retirement plans clear after Bills release

Von Miller currently has no team to play for in the 2025 NFL season.

The Denver Broncos legend was released by the Buffalo Bills, and he’s the most accomplished defensive player still out there in free agency.

The future Hall of Famer doesn’t plan to stop looking for his next gig. He told the Denver Post that he plans to play in the NFL in 2025.

For the Broncos? Maybe not.

“I haven’t heard anything,” Miller told the Denver Post about being contacted by the Broncos. “But, I mean, really, if you look at it, this year, it really doesn’t make sense. They’ve got two really, really good rushers that are best in the league [caliber]. With Jonathon Cooper and Nik Bonitto, they are incredible rushers — and the guys underneath them, they come in and produce sacks, too. And they play special teams.

“I’m not playing special teams. That decision kind of makes itself, I think at 36 years old, I can say that I probably won’t be doing that. But yeah, this year, probably not [a reunion with the Broncos], but the year after that — next year — we’ll see what happens.”

Miller already throwing in a “next year” in there, suggesting he’s nowhere near his NFL retirement.

Buffalo had signed Miller to a six-year, $120 million deal before the 2022 season, but a serious knee injury sapped Miller of his ability to play to his full talent with the Bills. He had 14 sacks in 36 games for Buffalo.

Miller is a two-time Super Bowl champion, one apiece with the Broncos and the Rams.

He has 129.5 sacks in his already legendary NFL career, and he plans to add to that total.
