The Denver Broncos found a quarterback that can carry the future of the franchise last year, after several years of looking for that answer. With the No. 12 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, the Broncos found Bo Nix.

After a strong rookie season, the Broncos now have one of the better quarterbacks in the league. That sets the stage for some big matchups at the quarterback position for the Broncos this season.

Brad Gagnon of Bleacher Report ranked the 12 best matchups at the QB position for the upcoming season, and right at No. 12, he has the season opener for the Broncos. That game will feature Nix vs. Cam Ward of the Tennessee Titans.

Ward, the No. 1 overall pick in this year’s draft, is expected to be the team’s starter right out of the gate this season, with Will Levis as the backup. Gagnon likes the matchup for Denver.

“Why it’s cool: Barring something unforeseen this summer, this will be Ward’s debut as Tennessee’s No. 1 overall pick. He’ll go up against Denver’s exciting new franchise quarterback in a battle of high-profile young potential stars.

Prediction: Ward will have his work cut out for him, as the Broncos defense is strong and Nix finished his rookie season on a roll. The Broncos should easily win their home opener, with Nix outplaying Ward”, wrote Gagnon.

This could be a great way for the Broncos to begin the season as the team has not won a season opener since 2021. Nix outplaying the No. 1 overall pick would start the season off with the right kind of momentum needed to continue the high level of play he finished last season with.

Nix will also go against the likes of Patrick Mahomes, Justin Herbert and Joe Burrow this coming season, but his Week 1 matchup against Ward will draw some early-season headlines.
