The Denver Broncos finally turned the tables on the Las Vegas Raiders last season, winning both of the games against their No. 1 rival. Prior to that, the Raiders had won eight in a row against the Broncos.
The Broncos know they will get a better Raiders team this year as Pete Carroll was hired as the team’s head coach and a trade was made for Geno Smith, a big upgrade at the quarterback position. But the player Broncos fans may be most alarmed by is the Raiders’ first-round pick, Ashton Jeanty.
Jeanty was last year’s Heisman Trophy winner and he entered the draft as one of the best running back prospects in years and probably the best since Saquon Barkley in 2018. Now, Jeanty has revealed the teams he can’t wait to face in 2025. During an episode of “The Rush With Maxx Crosby”, Jeanty focused on division rivals.
The question was sent in by a viewer of the show and Jeanty, after saying he’s been “getting that one a lot” said “I would say the Chiefs and the Broncos, Chiefs cause their linebacker Nick Bolton, he went to my high school, so that would just be a cool full circle moment. Broncos, another, Marvin Mims, he went to my high school. JLSkinner, I went to college with him, but he’s been talkin’ trash so I’m gonna have to see cuh for real”.
It seems that Jeanty either has a competitive spirit about him with players he used to go to school with, or he has a chip on his shoulder about players who may have at one time not believed in him.
The shot at Skinner may be a playful jab, but it seems like Jeanty may have something to prove to him. Skinner is a backup safety for the Broncos who will be entering his third year in the league. He has just nine tackles in his career thus far.
The Broncos and Raiders play in Week 10 on November 6 in Denver and will have their second meeting in Week 14 on December 7 in Vegas. It seems Jeanty has circled these dates on his calendar.
