The Denver Broncos have seen quite a bit of turnover within their coaching staff this offseason. Sean Payton has had to make several hires to fill out his staff.
One of those hires was that of a former Broncos linebacker who also spent time with Payton in New Orleans. The Broncos officially hired Todd Davis on Thursday. The team has brought him in at the entry-level defensive quality control position.
Davis spent six seasons at inside linebacker for the Broncos, working his way into a starting role. He began his career as an undrafted free agent out of Sacramento State in 2014 with the Saints. When the Saints waived him that November, the Broncos claimed him.
He played in 82 games for the Broncos, making 467 tackles while also having two sacks and an interception, which he returned for a touchdown. After serving as a training camp coaching intern last season, he will officially start his coaching career in 2025.
I’ve had the honor of covering Todd Davis when he was a captain of the Broncos and an even greater honor of working with him everyday for 2 years.
I can 100% tell you he’s as good of a person as there is. I have no doubt he’s going to be an excellent coach

While adding Davis, the Broncos officially cut ties with Michael Wilhoite, who served as the team’s outside linebackers coach the past two seasons. It’s a tough loss for the Broncos as players like Nik Bonitto and Jonathon Cooper are starting to break out, but Wilhoite left the team little choice after being accused of assault against a police officer.
