Brian Norman Jr. and Conah Walker will not fight next, according to EverythingBoxing’s Darshan Desai. Eddie Hearn had confirmed talks with Norman’s promoter, Top Rank, earlier this month, but no deal was signed. Neither camp has publicly explained why the proposed welterweight fight fell through.

Desai posted the update on X. For Norman, the decision may spare him a hard fight with little room to impress. If he stopped Walker quickly, some would dismiss the win as another step below world level. If Walker dragged him into a long, rough contest, Norman could lose the momentum he regained by stopping Josh Wagner in May.
Walker was dangerous, but he was also an odd test of what Norman learned from his loss to Devin Haney. Walker comes forward and wants exchanges. Haney denied Norman those exchanges, controlled the distance, and left him struggling to get his offense going. Beating Walker in a firefight would make for a good night; it would tell us less about whether Norman can handle another skilled mover.
Money and location may have complicated the talks, although neither side has identified either as the sticking point. Hearn said Walker wanted substantial money for the risk and described the bout as a discussion with Top Rank, not a completed deal. Sending Norman to Britain would have required Top Rank to see enough value in that risk.
Keyshawn Davis is one possible opponent for Norman, given their place in the welterweight conversation, but there is no reported agreement between them. Walker’s problem is more immediate: five straight wins have raised his standing, yet the Norman fight would have offered the clearest jump from British success toward a world title opportunity. Hearn now has to find him another opponent who makes that jump worthwhile.
