OLLIE WATKINS came back to haunt his former club Brentford again.
The Aston Villa striker scored the only goal of the game as Unai Emery’s side stayed within touching distance of the top four.
Watkins charged down the left just after half-time and was allowed to cut inside by the hosts’ defence.
He then unleashed a shot that took a small deflection off Nathan Collins and fooled Mark Flekken as the ball squirmed under him and into the back of the net.
It was Watkins’ sixth goal in six games since leaving Brentford.
Watkins, who also missed a glorious chance to score another, set up a Morgan Rogers goal that was chalked off by VAR due to a tight offside.
The Bees pushed hard for an equaliser late on but Villa’s win takes them two points off the Champions League places.
