Braves News: Grant Holmes sharp, Walt Weiss talks trade deadline, and more

The Atlanta Braves kicked off the series against the Miami Marlins with a 4-2 win on Tuesday evening. Despite some drama in the later innings, Grant Holmes made the start and pitched a gem. He tossed six scoreless innings, striking out five and giving up a base on balls. 

The Marlins outhit the Atlanta offense, but fortunately, the Braves were able to hold on and get their sixth straight win. The series continues tonight at 7:15 ET.

Walt Weiss had lots to say on the trade deadline and his trust in Alex Anthopoulos.

Atlanta lost a piece of history, as a magnolia from Ponce de Leon Park fell in a storm.

MLB News:

Los Angeles Dodgers catcher Dalton Rushing has been diagnosed with a partial UCL tear. He will continue to hit but has been shut down from throwing. 

The Washington Nationals placed outfielder James Wood on the 10-day injured list with an oblique strain. The strain was described as “subtle” and “mild.”

The Colorado Rockies agreed to a two-year, $16.25M extension with outfielder Mickey Moniak.
