At the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Saturday night, promoter Bob Arum (Top Rank) presented a card streamed on ESPN+, where unbeaten 2020 Olympic silver medalist Richard Torrez Jr. defeated Italy’s 2016 Olympian “The Gladiator” Guido Vianello over ten rounds in the main event.
In the first round the taller Vianello was warned twice for holding in the first minute by Referee Thomas Taylor. Torrez won the round. In the second rounds final minute Referee Taylor took a point from Vianello for continuous holding. In the fourth round both had their moments with Torrez landed a right hook to the head in the final seconds.

In the fifth round Vianello took his first round having a slight edge in punches landed. In the sixth and seventh round Vianello had a pair of good rounds using his jab and keeping from holding.
In the eighth rounds final minute Torrez rocked Vianello with an overhand left to the chin rocking Vianello. In the ninth round a clash of heads caused a cut on the right eyelid of Torrez who had a good round.
In the tenth and final round Torrez showed more determination knowing it was a close fight out landing Vianello by half a dozen punches.
Scores 97-92, 98-91 twice.
Super Lightweight 2016 Olympian and WBC and WBO No. 5 ranked WBO Latino champion Lindolfo Delgado, 23-0 (16), #139.9, of Linares, Nuevo Leon, MEX, won a majority decision over southpaw Elvis ‘The Dominican Kid’ Rodriguez, 17-2-1 (13), #139.6, of Santo Domingo, DR, over 10 rounds.


In the first four rounds the punch count was low for both with Rodriguez having an edge. In the fifth round with a minute remaining southpaw Rodriguez landed a hard right to the body of Delgado. By the end of the round the swelling under the left eye of Rodriguez is getting worse.
In the sixth rounds final seconds Delgado landed a left hook to the head of Rodriguez who also had swelling under his right eye at the end. In the final 30 seconds Rodriguez landed a pair of lefts followed by a right to the chin of Delgado who had a small cut on the bridge of his nose.
In the ninth rounds final seconds Rodriguez landed a left hook on the chin driving Delgado into the ropes and had him sliding down the ropes and almost down. In the tenth and final round both had their moments with Delgado having an edge.
Referee Allen Huggins. Scores 95-95, 96-94 twice.
WBC No. 7 ranked Lightweight southpaw Abdullah Mason, 18-0 (16), #135, of Cleveland, OH, stopped southpaw Carlos ‘Chinito’ Ornelas, 28-5 (15), #133.8, of Rosanto, Baja CA, MEX, at the end of the sixth round of a scheduled 10 rounds scoring 3 knockdowns for the NABF and NABO titles, celebrating his 21st birthday.


In the second round Mason landed a left followed by a right on the chin as Ornelas stepped around Mason and took a knee for an 8-count from Referee Raul Caiz, Jr. He got up and came back attacking the body of Mason to the bell. In the final seconds of the fourth round Mason landed a left on the chin causing a delayed knockdown with Ornelas taking a knee for an 8-count from Referee Caiz, Jr.
In the sixth round with a minute remaining Mason landed a pair of chopping lefts and another delayed knockdown with Ornelas taking a knee for another 8-count from Referee Caiz, Jr. His right eyelid was cut earlier in the round. At the end of the round the ring physician entered the ring examined the cut and asked Ornelas to take a few steps and then advised the referee to call a halt.
Middleweight Jahi Tucker, 14-1-1 (6), #160.7, of Deer Park, NY, easily defeated Troy ‘Trojan’ Williamson, 20-4-1 (14), #160.4, of Darlington, County Durham, UK, scoring the lone knockdown over 10 rounds.


In the second round a right uppercut from Tucker on the chin of Williamson dropped him. The referee claimed their feet got tangled not calling it a knockdown. In the fifth round Williamson had Tucker covering up in a neutral corner with Williamson landing half a dozen punches.
In the seventh round Williamson landed several left hooks to the chin rocking Tucker. In the eighth round a fourth straight left hook from Tucker on the chin of Wiliamson drove him into the ropes causing a standing 8 count from Referee Hoyle.
In the ninth round Referee Hoyle warned Tucker instead of Williamson for using his elbow. In the tenth and final round they fought on even terms.
Scores 99-89 by all judges.
Featherweight Albert ‘Chop Chop’ Gonzalez, 13-0 (7), #124.8, of Moreno Valley, CA, defeated ‘Deadly’ Dana Coolwell, 13-4 (8), #125.5, of Beerwah, Queensland, AUST, over 8 rounds.
In the first three rounds Gonzalez had an edge out landing Coolwell with combinations. In the fourth and fifth rounds Coolwell came back well enough to take both rounds.


In the sixth rounds halfway point Gonzalez drove Coolwell back with half a dozen body shots. In the seventh round both had their moments. In the eighth and final round Coolwell knowing he may need a stoppage held his own but couldn’t out punch Gonzalez.

Super Lightweight southpaw Steven ‘Kid Dynamite’ Navarro, 6-0 (5), #114.8, of Inglewood, CA, stopped ‘El Azabachito’ Juan Esteban Garcia, 14-2-2 (11), #113.5, of Mexicali, Baja CA, MEX, at 2:46 of the fourth round of a scheduled 8 rounds, for the NABF Junior Featherweight title.
In the first two rounds of a close fight Navarro had a slight edge. In the fourth round switching from southpaw to orthodox and back Navarro landed a dozen unanswered punches causing a cut on the bridge of Garcia’s nose when Referee Allen Huggins called a halt.


Super Welterweight Art Barrera, Jr., 8-0 (6), #152.7, of Linwood, CA, scored two knockdowns stopping southpaw Daijohn Gonzalez, 12-6 (6), #152.9, of Davenport, IA, at 2:56 of the second round of a scheduled 6 rounds.
In the first round Barrera dominated. In the second round with half a minute remaining Barrera landed a left hook on the chin dropping Gonzalez for an 8-count from Referee Thomas Taylor. Upon rising Barrera jumped on him dropping him again causing Referee Taylor to wave it off.
Super Lightweight 14-time amateur champ Samuel Contreras, 1-0 (1), #138.6, of Palmdale, CA, stopped Robert Jimenez, 2-3-1 (1), #138.4, of Nampa, ID, at 2:16 of the first round of a scheduled 4 rounds.
In the first rounds final minute a right hurt Contreras followed by three more punches on the chin and down went Jimenez as Referee Robert Hoyle waved the mismatch off.
