In the main event, Featherweight, Jan Paul Rivera (13-0, 7 KOs) stopped ‘The Dedication’ Daniel Bailey (15-3, 8 KOs) at 2:58 of the sixth round of a scheduled 10 rounds on Friday night at the Caribe Royale Orlando, Orlando, Florida.
In the first round’s midway point, Rivera landed a left hook on the chin, dropping Bailey for an 8-count from feferee Luis Pabon. He managed to come back enough to get through the round. In the second round, Rivera continued having his way. Bailey was warned twice for infractions by Referee Pabon. In the third round, Bailey had a better round. In the fourth round, Rivera chased Bailey around the ring, easily taking the round.
In the fifth round, Rivera continued outlanding Bailey, who only landed some counter lefts. In the sixth round’s final half minute, Rivera landed a right on the chin, dropping Bailey for an 8-count from referee Pabon. In the final seconds, a flurry of punches landed, forcing referee Pabon to call a halt.
Southpaw junior middleweight Yoelvis ‘La Joya’ Gomez (9-1 (7 KOs) won a 10-round majority decision over Edwine Humaine, Jr. (9-2, 7 KOs) for the WBA Continental title.
In the first three rounds, Gomez outworked Humaine. In the fourth round, Humaine came back in the final minute, holding his own.
In the fifth round, Gomez landed big lefts to the chin, but Humaine came back with good body work, not enough to take the round.
In the sixth round, Humaine seemed to take his first round in a fight with both having their moments. Humaine had Gomez moving around the ring for the first time.
In the seventh round, Humaine again outworked Gomez, who had his moment but is slowing down, as Humaine ended the round showboating a bit.
In the eighth round’s first two minutes, it went back and forth. In the eighth round’s final seconds, Gomez rocked Humaine with a left on the chin. In the ninth round, the action continued. In the final half minute, Gomez rocked Humaine with a lead left on the chin, taking the round. In the tenth and final round, Gomez had his way for the most part.
Luis Pabon was the referee. The scores were 95-95, 96-94, and 97-93.
Lightweight Corey ‘Too Smooth’ Marksman (12-0-1, 9) impressed in knocking out southpaw Luis ‘Bebo’ Martinez (9-2, 4 KOs) at 0:19 of the seventh round of a scheduled eight rounds.
In the first round, Marksman had an edge. In the second round’s final seconds, Markson rocked Martinez with an overhand right on the chin of a game Martinez. In the third round, Marksman turned southpaw and back dominated until the final seconds when Martinez backed him into a corner.
In the fourth round, Markson, out of a corner, landed half a dozen punches, driving a game Martinez back several steps. In the fifth round, Markson dominated to the point of near stoppage of Martinez.
In the sixth round, Markson had Martinez hurt in the final seconds with a left to the chin. In the seventh round, three rights ending with a left from Markson on the chin of Martinez had referee Chris Young calling a halt.
Light welterweight Tayre Jones (13-1, 7 KOs) lost his first fight to Alexander Rios Vega (10-2, 3 KOs) by an eight-round unanimous decision.
The scores were 78-74, 78-74, and 78-74.
Welterweight Pedro ‘Diamante Da Sliva Conceicao (5-0, 3 KOs) knocked out Renny Viamonte (4-2-1, 2 KOs) at 1:59 of the second round.
In the second round, Viamonte went down face-first for the count from a right hand on the chin.
Heavyweight Damazion ‘Mazi’ Vanhouter (9-0, 6 KOs) stopped Colby Madison (11-9-3, 7 KOs) at 2:48 of the first round of a scheduled six rounds.
In the first round’s final thirty seconds, Vanhouter landed a looping right on the chin, dropping Madison for the count
Featherweight Carlos Jamil De Leon Castro (5-0, 4 KOs) knocked out southpaw Haminton Blando ( 3-1-1, 1 KO) at 1:47 of the second round of a scheduled six rounds.
In the second round, Castro had Blandon in trouble against the ropes when Referee Luis Pabon called a halt.
Super Featherweight Olympian Jahmal Harvey (1-0, 1 KO) impressed in stopping ‘El Diamante’ Marcelo Del Aguila (5-2, 1 KO) at the end of the first round of a scheduled six rounds.
In the first round, Harvey had his way, turning southpaw in the final minute, driving Del Aguila to the ropes. In between rounds, Del Aguila refused to come out of the corner.
