Boxing Results: Alycia Baumgardner Defeats Jennifer Miranda And Retains Undisputed Crown

In the chief support bout of the Katie Taylor vs Amanda Serrano 3 event, undisputed super-featherweight world champion Alycia Baumgardner defeated the previously undefeated Jennifer Miranda (12-1, 1 KO) by way of unanimous decision.

The fight was very competitive, but once again, Baumgardner was able to successfully defend her undisputed crown. Miranda had her moments, but unfortunately for her, she fell short on the scorecards.

In the opening round of the contest, both fighters went through the feeling-out process as they were attempting to establish the range and distance. Baumgardner started the second round off aggressively, as she pressed forward and landed the right hand.

In the latter part of the second round, Miranda was able to fight off the front foot and land a couple of good shots. The action heated up in the closing seconds of the fourth round as Baumgardner and Miranda stood in the pocket and exchanged punches.

In rounds five and six, Alycia Baumgardner utilized controlled aggression because she had to be cautious due to the fact that Miranda was smart and she had a slightly awkward style. Early in round 8, Miranda landed a solid two-punch combination.

For the rest of the eighth and most of the ninth, both boxers were able to land significant shots. In the 10th and final round, Alycia Baumgardner struck immediately as she landed a solid left-hand shot.

Then Baumgardner proceeded to let her hands go as she threw a flurry of punches. The gritty Miranda didn’t back down as she closed out the round, fighting back. At the conclusion of the 10-round contest, Alycia Baumgardner earned a unanimous decision victory by the scores of (98-92, 98-92, 97-93).

Prior to Friday night, the undisputed champion Alycia Baumgardner (16-1, 7 KOs) hadn’t competed for a full 10 rounds within the past two years. Baumgardner was appreciative of getting the rounds in and successfully defending her super-featherweight crown.

This is a new chapter for Alycia Baumgardner as she has a new trainer in Derrick James, and now she’s being promoted by Jake Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions. Baumgardner has experienced a lot of career success, but it seems as if the best is yet to come.
