Bohachuk’s Second Chance: The Rematch with Brandon Adams to Avenge a Past Defeat

Serhii Bohachuk says he’s looking forward to facing Brandon Adams in their rematch this Saturday, September 13, to “fix the mistake” he made in his loss to him four years ago.

Fixing a Four-Year-Old Mistake

The former WBC interim junior middleweight champion Bohachuk (26-2, 24 KOs) states that he’s learned from his loss to Adams (25-4, 16 KOs) when he was knocked out in the eighth round on March 4, 2021.

Bohachuk was up wide on the cards by the scores 68-64, 69-63, and 68-64 at the time of the stoppage. He admits that he got careless, trying to add another knockout on his record, and Adams took advantage of it by nailing him with a big left hook to stagger him.

Moments later, Brandon followed up with another hard left hook to drop Bohachuk. The fight was halted after Bohachuk got back to his feet. It was such a one-sided fight up to that point.

Bohachuk was landing heavy punches the entire bout, forcing Adams to move around the ring to survive. By the eighth, he was desperate and swinging for the fences with his bread and butter punch, the left hook.

Adams has fought only three times since his victory over Bohachuk, and he’s coming off a 10-round split decision to Andreas Katzourakis on November 22, 2024. Many boxing fans believe that Adams was robbed in that fight because he’d landed a lot of hard left hooks on Katzourakis. Indeed, I watched the fight and I had Adams winning 97-93.

A Different Bohachuk This Time

“Four years ago, I made a mistake, and now I need to fix this mistake. A lot of people can see who is the best. Now, I’m smarter because I know him,” said Serhii Bohachuk to Fight Hub TV about his plans to avenge his loss to Brandon Adams this Saturday.

“Last time, he was waiting, waiting, and waiting. He’s very sly. For this fight, I feel stronger, and he’s a little bit older,” said Bohachuk.

It’s going to be difficult for Bohachuk not to get hit by Adams’ left hook because his aggressive style is going to put him in the line of fire all night.

The only question is whether he will be able to take it this time. If Bohachuk can handle Adams’ power, he’ll likely win because his punch output is much higher. He’s a volume puncher with heavy hands, whereas Adams is more of a classic power puncher.

The Mykal Fox Controversy

In Bohachuk’s last fight, he won a questionable 10-round unanimous decision over Mykal Fox on May 17, 2025. The lanky southpaw Fox gave Bohachuk a lot of trouble in that fight and was outboxing and out-punching him for long stretches.
