WAYNE ROONEY reckons two Liverpool leaders should be doing more to help under-fire Arne Slot.
The Reds romped to the Premier League title last season – Slot’s first at the helm – before strengthening significantly over the summer.
But their form has nosedived this term. And they now sit seven points behind leaders Arsenal after four straight league defeats.
Slot could do no wrong last campaign but he’s now facing tough questions on a weekly basis.
And Rooney thinks captain Virgil van Dijk and attacking figurehead Mohamed Salah are letting him down.
He said on The Wayne Rooney Show: “This is a time where the manager and the leaders in the team need to figure it out very quickly.

“Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah, they’ve signed new deals but I don’t think they’ve really led that team this season.
“I think body language tells you a lot, and I think we’re seeing slightly different body language from the two of them.
“They are the top two players in that team and if their body language is not right, that affects everyone else.
“I might be wrong on this, but if I was a Liverpool fan or the manager, that would be a big concern for me.”
It was hailed as a huge win when Liverpool chiefs tied Van Dijk and Salah down to new deals in April.
But both players are in their mid-thirties, and since the start of this season both are beginning to show signs of slowing down.
Salah has only netted four times in 13 appearances across all competitions – a measly total by his standards.
And Van Dijk is leading what is only the 15th best defence in the Premier League this term.
Slot will be desperate for his leaders to turn the tide with a Carabao Cup win over Crystal Palace on Wednesday before a tough run of games against Aston Villa, Real Madrid and Manchester City.
