The Denver Broncos got a huge rookie season out of their first-round pick last year, Bo Nix. Naturally, fans are going to expect him to improve upon those numbers and be even better in 2025, but the NFL has shown there can be such a thing as a “sophomore slump”, particularly at the quarterback position.

Mike Clay of ESPN has recently unveiled an incredibly extensive projections guide for the 2025 season and he has Nix having a strong season for what he feels will be one of the league’s better teams.

The Broncos feel they have one of the best quarterbacks in the league. How does Clay feel he will do this season, statistically?

Bo Nix 2025 projected stats

Statistic 2024 2025 (projected)
Completion % 66.3 65.9
Passing Yards 3,775 3,510
Passing TDs 29 24
Interceptions 12 11
Rushing Yards 430 370
Rushing TDs 4 3

As you can see, Clay sees the stats for Nix going down a tad in every category, but he still has him ranked as the No. 10 quarterback, at least in terms of fantasy football. However, when you look at his projected draft order for the 2026 NFL Draft, he has the Broncos picking from the No. 26 spot in the first round.

That would mean he has the Broncos making it to the divisional round of the playoffs, which would be an improvement in overall finish from a year ago and a step in the right direction as the Broncos would be seen as a clear Super Bowl contender going into 2026.

Broncos Country wants to see better than that in 2025 as there will be legions of fans believing that the team can compete this year. Rookie quarterbacks are sometimes tricky for NFL defenses to figure out. We’ve seen that in each of the last two seasons as C.J. Stroud and Jayden Daniels put forth two of the best rookie seasons in NFL history.

Will Nix be able to overcome what defenses throw at him in his second season to keep the Broncos surging toward the top of the AFC? That will be one of the key factors for the team this season.
