Toronto Blue Jays All-Star shortstop Bo Bichette will miss Game 1 of the American League Championship Series against the Seattle Mariners because of a sprained knee.
Bichette has been out of the lineup for Toronto since suffering the injury during a game on Sep. 6 against the New York Yankees, when he collided with catcher Austin Wells, spraining the left knee in the process. The Blue Jays placed their star shortstop on injured reserve on Sep. 9.
Prior to going down with this knee injury, Bichette was having a remarkable season after a down year in 2024. Bichette finished the season with a .311 batting average, 18 home runs and 94 RBI, which is the second highest of his career. He played in 139 games (Bichette played in only 81 games in 2024) had a .483 slugging percentage and .840 OPS.
