The Dallas Cowboys entered the 2025 offseason with a dire need at wide receiver, but the team has yet to remedy that issue.

While Ceedee Lamb has proven to be one of the better wide receivers in the entire league, the Cowboys don’t have much behind him. Over-the-hill wideout Brandin Cooks is gone, and there are nothing but question marks left on the roster.

Despite all that, the Cowboys only made small moves in free agency and didn’t even draft a wide receiver, which leaves a group that simply isn’t good enough.

Last Word on Sports’ Samuel Massad has an idea for Dallas that would address the position in a massive way. He proposed a blockbuster trade with the Miami Dolphins that would land star wide receiver Tyreek Hill in Dallas.

For Dallas, it’s simple. Hill changes your offense overnight. Ryen Russillo of The Ringer has referred to Hill as “the Steph Curry of football”—a guy defenses have to account for on every snap. Lose him for a split-second, and he’s behind the defense and in the end zone. He’d bring instant football credibility to a middling offense that lacked any real juice last year.

Trade speculation has been swirling around Hill ever since he said he wanted out of Miami following the 2024 campaign. He has since walked those comments back, although it’s not crazy to think the Dolphins see the writing on the wall that Hill may again want out if things go south during the 2025 season.

Hill, who has two more years left on his $90 million contract, is coming off a down season, but there are a few explanations for that. First off, Tua Tagovailoa missed a handful of games due to a concussion, and Hill was also playing with an injured wrist.

At his best, Hill is arguably the most electric wide receiver in the NFL. The eight-time Pro Bowler has posted 1,100 yards or more six times and led the league in receiving yards as recently as 2023.

Assuming he returns to form, adding Hill would give the Cowboys the best one-two punch at wide receiver in the NFL, and his presence would elevate Dak Prescott while also helping to take pressure off Lamb. Hill’s big-play ability would add another element to Dallas’ offense, also.

The problem with this scenario is that Dolphins general manager Chris Grier has said that it would take two first-round picks to acquire Hill, which basically is a sign that the Dolphins don’t intend on trading him.

That said, if Miami changes its mind, Dallas should be the first in line.
