The New York Giants have one game standing between them and an offseason of crucial decisions.
After a shocking win over the Indianapolis Colts in Week 17, the Giants no longer hold the projected No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
They will enter the final week of the season with the No. 4 pick, though there is a slight chance they can get that top overall pick back if they get extremely lucky.
Either way, given how the season has gone, head coach Brian Daboll is sitting in one of the hottest seats in the NFL. Even if general manager Joe Schoen stays, there’s a chance Daboll is made the scapegoat and relieved of his duties this offseason.
If that’s the case, Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report suggested the Giants should go back to the Buffalo Bills well to find his replacement.
“If Schoen stays and Daboll is out, Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Joe Brady could be an ideal coaching replacement,” Knox wrote. “For one, the 35-year-old will be coming over from a successful franchise, as Daboll and Schoen did before him. While Brady’s time with the Bills didn’t overlap with Schoen’s, they may have picked up similar philosophies.
“More importantly, the Giants will conduct a new quarterback search in the offseason, which could begin with the No. 1 overall pick. If New York uses that selection on a prospect such as Shedeur Sanders or Cam Ward, it will want a coach to help develop a signal-caller.”
Knox mentioned how Brady helped develop Joe Burrow at LSU as the passing-game coordinator and has helped Josh Allen turn in an MVP-caliber season.
Whether the Giants would want to replace Daboll, a former Bills coordinator, with another candidate from Buffalo remains to be seen.
Regardless, it will be interesting to see whether any changes are made to the regime after Week 18 concludes.
