The 24-year-old played a key role in derailing the Tar Heels’ opportunity to feature in the popular NFL docuseries Hard Knocks.
According to The Athletic, Hudson was heavily involved in the production process, but her desire to be a central figure in the project ultimately led to its cancellation. The Tar Heels lost out on a major exposure opportunity, along with a staggering $200K in facilities fees. The missed chance to elevate the program, which had been looking to break into the elite level of college football, is now seen as a major blow.
Hudson’s role in halting the production is even more eyebrow-raising considering the promotional materials and press releases were already in the works before the deal fell through.
The impact on the Tar Heels’ chances at national exposure is undeniable. The CBS interview, which aired on Sunday, April 27, immediately caught the attention of media and fans when Hudson interrupted and then refused to let Belichick answer a lighthearted question regarding their relationship.
Belichick, for his part, released a statement on Wednesday, April 30, which read the following: “I was surprised when unrelated topics were introduced, and I repeatedly expressed to the reporter, Tony Dokoupil, and the producers that I preferred to keep that conversation centered on the book. After this occurred several times, Jordon, with whom I share both a personal and professional relationship, stepped in to reiterate that point to help refocus the discussion.”
