BENJAMIN SESKO is wasting no time settling into life in Manchester after sealing his £74m move to Manchester United yesterday.
Sesko, 22, was paraded on the Old Trafford pitch on Saturday afternoon after the club announced his arrival from German club RB Leipzig.
The striker stood alongside fellow new signings Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and Diego Leon at the Theatre of Dreams after putting pen to paper on a five-year deal.
After watching his new side fail to impress with a 1-1 pre-season draw against Fiorentina, Sesko headed out into Manchester to soak up the city he is about to call home.
The Slovenian superstar was seen enjoying a meal at Italian restaurant San Carlo alongside his agent, Elvis Basanovic.
The spot, which has always been popular with footballers, serves up pizza, pasta and steaks with some menu items reaching prices over £80.
Fans and paparazzi waited on the street outside the restaurant to catch a glimpse of Man Utd’s new frontman after his meal.
Man Utd ended weeks of speculation around Sesko’s future when they announced his arrival on Saturday.
Sesko had been subject to interest from across Europe throughout the window, including heavy links to Arsenal before their swoop for Viktor Gyokeres.
But it was Man Utd and Newcastle who started a bidding war for the Slovenian, who ultimately opted for a switch to Old Trafford over Champions League football at St James’ Park.
Opening up on the lure of the Theatre of Dreams, the striker said upon signing: “The history of Manchester United is obviously very special but what really excites me is the future.
“When we discussed the project, it was clear that everything is in place for this team to continue to grow and compete for the biggest trophies again soon.
“From the moment that I arrived, I could feel the positive energy and family environment that the club has created. It is clearly the perfect place to reach my maximum level and fulfil all of my ambitions.
“I cannot wait to start learning from Ruben [Amorim] and connecting with my team-mates to achieve the success that we all know we are capable of together.”
Sesko flourished in the Bundesliga last season, scoring 13 goals and registering five assists in 33 appearances.
According to reports, Sesko will be earning £160,000-per-week at United – a wage that would make him the club’s eighth highest earner.
While that figure is thought to be in line to increase to £200,000 if Man Utd reach the Champions League.
United will pay an initial £66.5m for the striker with an additional £7.3m worth of add-ons in a favourable payment structure for United.
Sesko has been lauded as a physical marvel, a player who possesses pace, power, finishing and the ability to leap through the air in a similar fashion to Cristiano Ronaldo.
Man Utd boss Ruben Amorim has praised his work ethic too, joking that the club may have to stop him from working TOO HARD.
He said: “He has the characteristics that we needed. Ben is a player that, with all the information that we have, we need to stop the guy from working – it is not the opposite! That is also important.
“He is really young, he is good in the air, he is good running the channels and he is good on the ball, so I think he has great potential. I think he can improve a lot.
“For sure, he is going to feel at home in our club. He is the right character in this group so we are really, really happy to have him.”
Sesko could make his debut for United as soon as next Sunday, when the Red Devils host Arsenal for their Premier League opener.
