WBC Interim Light Heavyweight champion ‘The Mexican Monster’ David Benavidez defeated previously unbeaten WBA World Light Heavyweight champion David ‘Osvary’ Morell by a 12-round unanimous decision in a WBC title eliminator on Saturday night at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Former WBC Super Middleweight Benavidez, 30-0 (24) beat Morell, 11-1 (9) over 12 rounds.  In the first three rounds, it was give and take, with Benavidez having a slight edge. In the fourth round, both had abrasions on their left eyebrows.

In the fifth round, Benavidez rocked Morell with a right on the chin, having Morell in a corner. Morell spun around and landed a combination against Benavidez. In the sixth round, it was all Benavidez with a good body attack. At the end of the round Benavidez landed a hard left uppercut to the chin of Morell.

In the seventh round, Morell hit Benavidez after the bell, getting deducted a point by Referee Thomas Taylor. From that point on, Benavidez outworked Morrell.

Scores 115-111, 115-111 and 118-108.

In the co-feature in a rematch, Philly’s Stephen Fulton Jr. became a two-division champ, defeating WBC interim World Featherweight champion Brandon ’The Heartbreaker’ Figueroa over 12 grueling rounds. Figuero, 25-2-1 (19) lost his title to ‘Scooter’ Fulton, 23-1 over 12 rounds.

In the third round, Fulton lands numerous rights to the chin of Figuero, who goes from orthodox to southpaw. After dropping the first rounds, Figueroa was outworking Fulton throughout the round.

In the sixth round, Fulton drew blood from the nose of Figueroa. In the eighth through the tenth rounds, Figueroa had Fulton against the ropes for most of the round.

In the eleventh round, with the mauling match, to the crowd’s displeasure, the fight is now in the middle of the ring to the advantage of Fulton. Fulton countered enough to take the last round in the twelfth and final round.

Scores 116-112, 116-112 and 117-111.

The referee was Harvey Dock.

Super Light Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz, 24-6-1 (18), defeated Angel ‘Tashiro’ Fierro, 23-3-2 (18) over 10 rounds of war.

The scores were 98-92, 97-93, 96-94.

Middleweight southpaw Jesus ‘El Mono’ Alejandro Ramos, Jr., 22-1 (18) stopped Jeison ‘Banana’ Rosario, 24-5-2 (18) in the eighth round of a scheduled 10 rounds.

Featherweight 2020 Olympian Mirco Cuello, 15-0 (12), stopped Christian ‘Kiki’ Olivo, 22-1 (9), at 2:01 of the tenth and final round of a WBA title eliminator.

In the first round, Olivo countered Cuello with a left on the chin, rocking him. At the halfway point of the second round, Olivo landed a combination on the chin, dropping Cuello to a knee, which earned him an 8-count from Referee Chris Flores.

In the tenth and final round, left to the body from Cuello and down went Olivo for an 8-count from Referee Flores. Seconds later a

Middleweight Yoenli Feliciano Hernandez, 7-0 (6), stopped southpaw Angel ‘Relampago’ Ruiz, 18-4-1 (13), at 1:06 of the fifth round of a scheduled 10 rounds.

In the first four rounds, it was all Hernandez with little return from Ruiz. In the fifth round, Hernandez was hitting Astorga at will until referee Allen Huggins called a halt as Astorga landed a punch.

Middleweight Jose ‘El Phoenix’ Benavidez, Jr, 29-3-1 (20), stopped Danny Rosenberger, 20-10-4 (10), in the fifth round of a scheduled eight rounds.

Super Middle Daniel ‘Ice Man’ Blancas, 12-0 (5) defeated Juan ‘Just Business’ Barajas, 11-1-2 (7) over eight rounds.

Lightweight 18-year-old Curmel Moton, 7-0 (6), stopped Frank Zaldivar, 5-2 (3), in the third round of a scheduled at 1:51 of the third round of a scheduled eight rounds.

In the first round, Moton was landing at will until the final minute before Zaldivar started landing punches in the final minute. In the third round, Moton landed a dozen unanswered punches, causing referee Harvey Dock to wave it off.

Super Middleweight John ‘Candyman’ Easter, 8-0 (7) defeated Joseph Aguilar, 6-2-1 (3) over six rounds.

Featherweight Gabriela Tellez, 4-0 (1) won a majority decision over Abril Anguiano, 4-1 (2) over 6×2 rounds.

The ring announcer was Jimmy Lennon, Jr.
