Bellingham beats Rashford in clash of the Englishmen in fiesty incident-filled El Clasico

JUDE BELLINGHAM got one over on Marcus Rashford as Real Madrid shaded an incident-packed El Clasico clash.

Bellingham scored one and set up another for Real, with Rashford providing the assist for Barcalona’s equaliser.

Kylian Mbappe scored the other for Xabi Alonso’s hosts – but also missed a penalty and saw two goals ruled out for offside.

Bellingham also had one chalked off in a contest that began with a Real penalty being awarded and then taken away and ended with Pedri’s Barca red card.

And all that added up to Real establishing a five-point lead at the top over their Catalan rivals, who were without banned boss Hansi Flick.

El Clasico debutant Rashford saw an early chance blocked but Barca were soon living dangerously at the other end.

Lamine Yamal dived in on Vinicius Junior in the second minute and referee Cesar Soto Grado pointed to the spot.

VAR told him to go to the monitor however and the decision was overturned – Yamal had got the ball.

Mbappe smashed a superb shot into the corner 10 minutes later only for that one to be ruled offside.

But there was no denying the France legend in the 22nd minute – with Bellingham providing the assist.

The man currently being overlooked by Thomas Tuchel picked the ball up in midfield and turned to create space.

A super diagonal pass sent Mbappe sprinting behind the defence and slot past Wojciech Szczesny.

It was Rashford’s turn in the 38th minute as the on-loan Manchester United man set up Fermin Lopez’s leveller.

Arda Guler was mugged in possession to allow Rashford to cross from the left for summer Chelsea transfer target Lopez to fire home.

Real were back in front two minutes before the break when Bellingham tapped in from close range.

Eder Militao headed Vinicius’ cross back across the six-yard box to give the bad-tempered Brummie the simplest of finishes.

There was still time in the first half for Mbappe to have another ruled out for offside after Bellingham’s shot was saved.

This time there were no wild celebrations – Mbappe knew he was off.
Ref Soto Grado was back at his monitor again a handful of minutes into the second half – and Bellingham was at the centre of it.

Eric Garcia blocked a cross and saw it bounce back on to his hand off Bellingham’s knee.

A penalty seemed a harsh award – and justice was done when Szczesny guessed right to tip over Mbappe’s spot-kick.

Bellingham was the next Real man to see a goal ruled out for offside but this was another clear-cut call.

Vinicius had a mini strop on being subbed before Mbappe fired a chance to seal victory across goal.
