Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams is heading into a critical second season.
Last year, Williams threw for 3,541 yards and 20 scores but could only win five games.
Bears head coach Matt Eberflus was fired towards the end of the season, and now Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson is the new head coach in Chicago.
Johnson is one of the best offensive minds in the NFL. He worked well with Lions quarterback Jared Goff, and Bears fans hope he can do the same with Williams.
Williams is currently considered an average quarterback in the NFL, and Pro Football Focus’s John Kosko has him ranked 24th heading into the season.

“Touted as a generational talent by many, Williams underwhelmed as a rookie, earning just a 67.6 overall grade and posting only five single-game grades above 70.0,” Kosko wrote. “The talent is undeniable, but his NFL success will hinge on learning to find open targets and avoiding the habit of running himself into pressure.”
If Williams doesn’t improve this season and the Bears are picking high in next year’s NFL Draft, the team could pivot to a new quarterback if they fall in love with an upcoming rookie.
Williams has all the tools and coaches around him to have a good season, and now he has to put it all together.
