The New York Giants went through the entire 2025 NFL Draft without adding to the wide receiver room.
With Malik Nabers, Darius Slayton and Wan’Dale Robinson all returning in their respective roles, the Giants could look to bolster the depth in the room by targeting a high-profile free agent.
When looking at the potential fits for the top remaining free agents following the draft, the Giants were urged to sign former Chicago Bears wide receiver Keenan Allen by Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox.
“Allen can’t run or shake coverage like he once did, and he’s also dealt with soft-tissue injuries in recent years. However, he’s still a savvy route-runner with reliable hands who can use spacing and leverage to get open,” Knox wrote. “Allen would be a great fit for a team looking to develop a young quarterback. His experience would be valuable, and he could serve as a high-end security blanket as a third or fourth receiver.”
Allen enjoyed a prolific 11-year run with the Los Angeles Chargers, averaging 75.8 yards per game and 82 receptions per season. In 2024 with the Bears, Allen posted 70 receptions for 744 yards and seven touchdowns while working with rookie Caleb Williams.
The Giants have a rookie quarterback of their own after trading up for Jaxson Dart in the back end of the first round. However, it’s highly likely Dart will use the 2025 campaign as a redshirt season if things go according to plan.
The Giants also added Zach Pascal this offseason and have the disgruntled Jalin Hyatt entering the final year of his rookie contract. Neither of them would overtake Allen on the depth chart, though, especially if the veteran is used as a flanker option.
Allen was projected to land a two-year, $22 million deal in free agency at the beginning of the offseason, but that price has likely been lowered with the draft behind us.
