Barcelona ‘ready to take up permanent transfer option’ in Marcus Rashford deal but could try to strike cut-price move

BARCELONA have made their decision about making Marcus Rashford’s move permanent at the end of the season.

The England international joined the Spanish giants in the summer on a season-long loan from Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United.

He has found fine form in Barcelona, netting three goals and five assists in ten games so far, including his first La Liga goal against Sevilla on Sunday.

Now, according to reports from Spain, the Catalan outfit is ready to trigger a buy option in his loan deal to extend his stay with the club.

However, the £26million clause is apparently seen to be tricky for Barcelona, with the club keen to explore alternative avenues to keep the England international where he is.

La Blaugrana are in an difficult financial situation that has kept the club from freely registering signings, which Rashford learned when he first arrived in July.

The League’s financial fair play rules surrounding player wages dictate that clubs cannot spend more on their wages than their income.

This means that Rashford may have to undergo a pay cut on his £325,000-a-week salary to remain at the Camp Nou permanently.

According to Tribal Football, the club could also look to negotiate with the Red Devils directly, to see if the 27-year-old would be available at a cheaper price.

It is also thought that Hansi Flick’s side would be open to exploring a simple extension of his loan as they attempt to manage their financial situation.

It is clear that as long as Amorim is in charge at United, a lot would have to change for Rashford to be able to return to the fold at Old Trafford.

Amorim on the Brink: Manchester United in Crisis After Brentford Defeat

The pair had an intense falling out following the Portuguese boss’ arrival last November.

He spent the second half of last season on loan with Aston Villa, before making the switch abroad in the summer.

He is contracted to United until the end of the 2028 season, meaning that there is pressure on the club to find some way of cashing in on the attacker.

And now might be the perfect time, with his impressive form increasing his value and earning him a spot in Thomas Tuchel’s England squad for the upcoming international break.
