He bid an emotional goodbye to Spurs but was all smiles during his introduction in LA.
Son even managed to keep up appearances as a local politician made a huge blunder in her welcome to the South Korea captain.
Councilwoman Heather Hutt spoke on stage and addressed the Tottenham legend – but got confused over his nationality.
She said: “When the World Cup comes, we are expecting a win here in LA for the USA.
“We are here to support you to get that done.”
The politician got mixed up as she referred to the 2026 World Cup, which is being held in the US, Mexico and Canada, with LA one of the host cities.
Son, 33, also met LA mayor Karen Bass and city officials and described his moves as a “dream come true”.
He said: “What can I say, dream come true. LA, what a city.”
Son revealed it was LAFC general manager John Thorrington who persuaded him to make the switch.
He continued: “He just changed my mind, heart, he changed my brain.
He showed me the destination where I should be and right now I’m here and I’m so, so excited.
“I’m here to win, I will perform and I will definitely show you some exciting football, and we will definitely have success.”
