Aston Martin regressed over 2024 as upgrades did little to improve its competitiveness in Formula 1, but the evergreen Fernando Alonso still squeezed every drop from his car.

The Spanish veteran’s consistent points-scoring exploits in the opening rounds of the season, spearheaded by fifth in Jeddah, laid the foundations for Aston’s run to fifth place in the constructors’ championship, and sixth places in Canada and Azerbaijan defied the decline.
