Arsenal transfer news LIVE: Gunners MISS Eze deadline, Zinchenko ‘close to EXIT’, Lookman ‘REJECTS move’

Taking the Mik

Fans have trolled Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta after awkwardly messing up his numbers during a press conference.

The Gunners start their season with a trip to Old Trafford against Manchester United on Sunday, where they will be hoping to avoid losing precious ground in the title race early on.

Following three seasons of finishing as the runner-up, twice to Manchester City and once to Liverpool, Arteta has backed his team’s consistency as the key to finally winning that elusive title.

Speaking to reporters, he said: “You keep digging, digging, digging and you have to be digging because one day the gold is going to be there.

“That’s all the time. When I’ve been taught, when I’ve been educated, that’s it.”

The 43-year-old continued: “For three seasons we’ve had more points than any other team in this league, which is incredible. That’s how you have all the consistency.

“Now we have to do it in a season to have one more point or the same amount of points and more goals different than any other team. That’s the objective.”

Odegaard fires up Gunners

Martin Odegaard has fired a warning shot ahead of Arsenal’s battle at Manchester United.

The skipper said: “We’re in a position where we feel like second is not a failure, but we want more.

“When you’re that close and you really can feel it and you really can taste it, and you know that you’re really that close, I think it just motivates me.

“It shows that if we just improve a little bit we can get there. For me that’s just extra fire in the belly going into the new season”.

Trossard set for exit

Leandro Trossard will be allowed to leave Arsenal before deadline day.

The BBC claims Mikel Arteta will not stand in the Belgian’s way if a suitable offer arrives.

But Trossard may not be the only attacking exit.

Fabio Vieira is a wanted man, while Reiss Nelson is also expected to depart the Emirates.
