ARNE SLOT has confirmed Luis Diaz’s future at Liverpool is uncertain.
The Reds boss told reporters the winger had been left out of the squad to face AC Milan earlier today due to the speculation over his future.
Diaz, 28, has been the subject of transfer talk away from Anfield, with the likes of Barcelona and Bayern Munich heavily linked.
However, Barcelona’s deal to land Marcus Rashford on loan from Manchester United has left the Bundesliga giants as the only remaining suitor for the Colombian.
Diaz has informed the club of his desire to leave.
He was then left out of the squad completely for the friendly against AC Milan in Hong Kong, which they lost 4-2.
Asked why Diaz was left out, Slot said: “He’s training really well with us.
“But we’ve decided, for now, not to play him yet.
“I’m used to talking to most of my players on a regular basis, like I said, Lucho is training really well and we’ve decided he’s not playing at the moment.
“I cannot comment much more about that.”
Darwin Nunez was also left out of the squad.
However, while the Uruguayan has also been linked with a transfer away, he was left out due to a minor injury.
Slot added: “In Darwin’s situation, he’s also trained really well and played a few good games for us, but he was injured, so we didn’t want to take a risk with him as well.”
Liverpool have landed Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez and Hugo Ekitike so far this window.
The four players have taken the club’s spending to nearly £300million.
And they have now been linked with Newcastle star Alexander Isak, in what could be a British transfer record fee.
However, a move for the Swede is said to not be a priority for Liverpool at this stage.
Isak has his heart set on joining the Reds, despite being offered a mega £32m-a-year from Saudi Arabia – as exclusively revealed by SunSport.
On Isak’s future, Toon boss Eddie Howe said any movement would need to be “right for the football club”.
Liverpool’s pre-season schedule sees them take on Japanese side Yokohama FM on Wednesday.
