There are few more polarizing players in the history of the NFL than former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown.

Brown was arguably the best wide receiver of his era in his heyday after he was a sixth-round pick of the Steelers in 2010. From 2011 to 2018, Brown led the NFL in receiving yards twice, posted seven campaigns with 1,100 yards or more and was voted to seven Pro Bowls and earned four first-team All-Pro nods.

But things went off the rails for him near the end of his Steelers tenure, and things did not get any better in the last few stops of his career, which came with the New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, although he did win a Super Bowl with the latter.

Despite the fact that he hasn’t played a snap in the NFL since 2021, Brown is still looking to get back on the field, as evidenced by the fact that he recently offered up his services to the Steelers for free.

The Steelers could definitely use more help at wide receiver, even after the trade for Mike Williams, who has yet to be heavily involved in any game. But they would never even consider Brown.

Thanks to his attitude issues during his career and countless problems off the field, Brown has become radioactive to the point that no team would even think about bringing him in, whether free or not.

Of course, Brown wouldn’t be allowed to play for free, anyway, but you get the idea. There is far more to be lost than gained by signing the 36-year-old wide receiver, who likely doesn’t have anything left in the tank to begin with.

Despite their issues at wide receiver, the Steelers are still in a good spot with an 8-3 record that has them in first place in the AFC North.

Pittsburgh recently had its five-game win streak snapped by the Cleveland Browns on Thursday night. Head coach Mike Tomlin’s squad will look to rebound in a Week 13 matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals at Paycor Stadium.
