Antonio Brown fight at Adin Ross event, explained: Former NFL star detained after gunshots fired during alleged robbery

Police briefly detained former NFL star Antonio Brown after an incident at an Adin Ross kickboxing event Friday.

Brown was one of many attending the Ross’ Brand Risk kickboxing event on Friday, May 16. The seven-time Pro Bowler was placed in handcuffs for his role in a large altercation that transpired during the event.

Brown remained in handcuffs for about 20 minutes before he was let go, according to reports. He later took to X (formerly Twitter) to issue a statement on the matter and explained his role in the altercation on a stream with Ross.

Here’s everything to know about the situation.

Antonio Brown detainment, explained

Brown was detained for around 20 minutes after an altercation at Friday’s Brand Risk kickboxing event in Miami, per reports.

The incident, which was captured from various angles by those attending the event, reportedly began as several individuals attacked Brown in an attempt to rob him of his jewelry.

Brown can be seen defending himself in an attempt to fend off the attackers as security eventually intervenes.

In a separate angle of the incident, gunshots are fired off camera, but it is unclear who fired the shots.

After his brief detainment, Brown joined Ross on a stream to blame the incident on having CTE, though the disease cannot be diagnosed in a living human brain.

“Yeah, I got CTE — I blacked out. I blacked out, Adin,” Brown said during the stream.

Brown took to X at 6:35 a.m. Saturday morning to issue a statement, which in part reads:

Regarding the boxing event that happened last night. I was jumped by multiple individuals who tried to steal my jewelry and cause physical harm to me. Contrary to some video circulating, Police temporarily detained me until they received my side of the story and then released me. I WENT HOME THAT NIGHT AND WAS NOT ARRESTED.

I will be talking to my legal council and attorneys on pressing charges on the individuals that jumped me.

I will keep you all posted step-by-step on the process.

This story will be updated.
