Anthony Martial linked with AEK Athens transfer exit to link up with Arsenal icon in Mexico after Conference League snub

MANCHESTER UNITED flop Anthony Martial has been linked with a sensational move to Mexico after falling out of favour in Greece.

Martial, 29, currently plays for AEK Athens, who signed him in 2024 as a free agent after he rolled credits to a turbulent nine-year stint at United.

The versatile forward signed a lucrative three-year deal with AEK who handed him a club record £8.3million contract.

The former France international had a decent maiden season at OPAP Arena as he amassed a total of nine goals and two assists in 23 appearances before suffering yet another injury in February.

Now Martial has fallen down the pecking order following the arrival of new manager Marko Nikolic.

So much so that Nikolic left the Frenchman out of AEK’s squad for the Conference League.

Reports in Greece suggest the Serbian tactician hasn’t completely given up on the former Premier League star just yet.

According to journalist Cesar Luis Merlo, the ex-Monaco star could find a way out of his current predicament by joining Pumas.

The Mexican giants are scrambling for a late attacking addition before their summer transfer window slams shut on Friday.

Pumas have shortlisted two top candidates, which are Martial and San Jose Earthquakes star Cristian Arango.

A potential deal would see the former United ace link up with ex-Arsenal rival Aaron Ramsey.

However, a deal won’t be easy due to the winger’s hefty salary demands.

Forgotten ex-Man Utd star Anthony Martial finally makes debut for new club 10 months after last playing competitive match

Martial left Man Utd with a total of 90 goals and 54 assists in 317 appearances under his belt.
