Andy Murray lands new job with two-time Wimbledon winner, 38, to perform very different role to coaching Novak Djokovic

ANDY MURRAY has landed his first gig since splitting from Novak Djokovic weeks before Wimbledon.

Murray, who called time on his 19-year tennis career in 2024, spent five months working on his old Serbian rival’s coaching team.

The legendary Scot revealed he wasn’t in a rush to get back into coaching earlier this month.

But the 38-year-old has now secured his first commercial partnership as the inaugural brand ambassador for Walker’s Shortbread.

The renowned Scottish biscuit manufacturer sell their products in over 100 markets worldwide.

Commenting on his new job, three-time Grand Slam winner Murray said: “I am proudly Scottish, and partnering with Walker’s, a brand that has been representing Scotland around the world for well over a century, felt like a great fit for me.

“I come from a small tight-knit community and when I look back at where I have come from, I am proud of what I’ve achieved.

“Which is something I share with Walker’s. It’s a real honour to be part of this next chapter for such a well-loved Scottish brand.”

Murray also revealed that he’s been a fan of shortbread since he was a kid, with his grandmother making it “all the time”.

He added: “We even celebrated my Wimbledon win with shortbread. No matter where I am in the world, it always transports me back home.”

As part of the campaign, Murray will become the face of the brand, with adverts appearing in major train stations across the country.

Speaking about the addition to their team, managing director of Walker’s, Nicky Walker, said: “We are incredibly excited to welcome Andy as our very first ambassador.

“We’ve always admired Andy’s achievements, his dedication and his cautious charisma as well as his very obvious close relationship with his own family.”

The former world No.1 retired after the Paris Olympics and has spent a lot of time improving his golf swing since the tennis rackets were locked away.

Meanwhile, SunSport previously reported that Murray signed up to become a motivational speaker.

He joined London-based Chartwell Speakers, whose clients include ex-PM Gordon Brown, Olympic star Sir Mo Farah and TV host Graham Norton.

Queen’s Club in West London renamed their Centre Court the ‘Andy Murray Arena’ last week.
