The Manchester United outcast joined Trabzonspor on a season-long loan in the summer following the arrival of Senne Lammens.
The goalkeeper reportedly still has ambitions to resurrect his Old Trafford career but he is expected to leave at the end of the season.
Inter could be his destination after the club held talks with his agent over a move, according to the Daily Mail.
Onana impressed in his single season at the San Siro in 2023-24 as he helped Inter reach the Champions League final.

Onana has lost just three of the 16 games he has played for Trabzonspor.
However a deal involving Inter could hit a stumbling block over his wages.
Onana reportedly earns £120,000-a-week and United may have to pay a portion of his salary to ensure a deal is completed.
It is unclear if a loan or permanent move in on the table, with Onana contracted to the Red Devils until 2028.
SunSport has been exclusively told that Trabzonspor have been impressed him so much that they’re exploring ways to make his loan deal permanent.
Well-placed sources say Onana needed love from a club and its supporters following his chastening time at United.
