BESIKTAS manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is planning a major coup to sign N’Golo Kante this summer.
Manchester United legend Solskjaer, 52, took over the Turkish giants in January, four years after his dismissal as Old Trafford boss.
And the Norwegian tactician has big plans for his new team after leading them to a massive 2-1 home victory over table toppers Galatasaray on Saturday.
According to Yeni Asir, the former United boss wants to sign ex-Chelsea star Kante, 34, ahead of the summer transfer window.
The midfielder wishes to leave Al-Ittihad and the same source claims the Saudi giants are open for business by even helping out with his release clause as his contract runs out in 2026.
Solskjaer and the France international have already met and an official bid by Besiktas is expected to be launched in the summer.
The ex-Cardiff City boss has emphasised his desire to land the ex-Leicester star to club chiefs.
The same source adds that Solskjaer told Besiktas’ hierarchy that he is confident he can convince the defensive midfielder to move.
The former Molde manager has known the Frenchman from their time together in the Premier League.
Kante is considered as one of the greatest midfielders to ever play in the English top flight.
The ex-Caen star was one of the main reasons behind Leicester’s shock Premier League title triumph in 2016.
Kante also stood out at Chelsea where he won the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and Europa League.
Besiktas are currently fourth in the Turkish Super Lig with four points separating them from third-placed Samsunspor.
