Amad the only player to provide a spark but Bruno Fernandes is anonymous and Yoro has night to forget

MANCHESTER UNITED saved their worst home performance of the season for the anniversary of Ruben Amorim’s first match in charge as they were beaten 1-0 by 10-man Everton.

United failed to turn up despite playing with an extra man for the best part of 77 minutes after Idrissa Gana Gueye was sent off for lashing out at teammate Michael Keane.

Shortly after Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall brilliantly curled the ball home with his weaker foot to spark bedlam in the away end.

United were dreadful in the final third and completely toothless in every area of the pitch as former boss David Moyes picked up his first away win at Old Trafford in 18 Premier League attempts.

SunSport’s Katherine Walsh rates and slates the United players, who were booed at the end of both halves and remain 10th after their five-game unbeaten streak came to a crashing end.

SENNE LAMMENS – 5

Lammens’ honeymoon might be over soon. The Belgian should have saved Dewsbury-Hall’s opener after diving too low and using the wrong arm at full stretch.

He didn’t have much to do after that.

LENY YORO – 3

After a crucial back post headed clearance to stop a certain Everton goal, Yoro had a real night to forget.

The Frenchman was extremely weak for Dewsbury-Hall’s goal as his poor intervening touch teed up the Blues star. Some questionable passing in the second-half had the home crowd worried.

MATTHIJS DE LIGT – 6

Battled well against Thierno Barry and did his best to get forward. The Dutchman found Mount with a wonderful ball over the top for a chance in the final 15 minutes.

But he spurned two great chances at the death that could’ve secured a draw.

LUKE SHAW – 5

Helped to clear up the mistakes that came his way from United’s open midfield and did not really put a foot wrong., but was rarely involved as Amorim kept a back three against 10-men.

With England boss Thomas Tuchel in the crowd, Shaw perhaps didn’t get on the ball enough or influence forward thinking play all that much.

NOUSSAIR MAZRAOUI – 4

The Moroccan did not do enough on the right hand side and was subsequently pulled off at half-time for Mason Mount.

CASEMIRO – 5

The 33-year-old was worryingly cut open by Everton’s midfield with David Moyes’ side down to ten men. His frustration boiled over into slow tackles.

His yellow card for tripping Jack Grealish triggered Amorim to haul him off, with the Portuguese manager keen to avoid a second booking – which was likely coming.

BRUNO FERNANDES – 4

Despite his hat-trick for Portugal last week, Fernandes failed to translate that form to his club, delivering another poor performance after an uninspiring game at Spurs before the international break.

The skipper should have relished playing against ten men for 77 minutes but was anonymous in midfield. His weak half-hearted attempt at tackling Dewsbury-Hall for the opener and poor passing decisions disgruntled the home crowd.

Yet Bruno had United’s two best chances in each half. His first brushed just past Jordan Pickford’s right hand post seconds before Gueye’s bizarre red card and his second was toe-poked over from a few yards.

PATRICK DORGU – 3

Like so many times this season he is United’s most attacking player on the left-hand side but clearly doesn’t have the skillset just yet to make opportunities that come his way count.

The youngster really struggled again in his winger duties, blasting a chance well wide from six yards and killing United’s rare first-half attacks.

BRYAN MBEUMO – 5

It wasn’t Mbeumo’s best performance in this shirt, but the whole team struggled. The Cameroon star showed his frustration when he was booked for naively pulling down former United midfielder James Garner on the stroke of half-time.

United are perhaps already heavily reliant on their new summer signing and couldn’t get back into the game with Mbeumo suffering his worst showing of the season.

AMAD DIALLO – 6

Amad was United’s strongest starter and his workrate cannot be denied. He gets a point chopped off for a foul throw in the final five minutes.

He was switched to right wing-back after half-time but United couldn’t string anything together. Amad showed moments of skill as he pushed the home side forward, but was also guilty of lacklustre failings as the game went on.

JOSHUA ZIRKZEE – 4

In his first start in 225 days, Zirkzee failed in his chance to impress Amorim after coming up second best in his battles with James Tarkowski.

His most meaningful contribution was a great cross into the box for Dorgu’s horror chance and he failed to attempt to head several crosses as United were chasing.
