All-Star Mariners pitcher Bryan Woo reportedly could be in line for ALCS Game 5 return from pectoral injury

The Seattle Mariners stole home-field advantage with a Game 1 ALCS win over the Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday.

More good news could be on the way.

All-Star pitcher Bryan Woo might be on track to return this series after being sidelined due to pectoral inflammation. Woo threw live batting practice Monday at Rogers Centre ahead of Game 2.

Per MLB.com, Woo will be slated for a Game 5 start in Seattle if he responds well after his throwing session. Per the report, he would be on a pitch count in that scenario, likely limited to 50 pitches.

All seemed well in the immediate aftermath of Woo’s session, which drew an audience from his teammates and general manager Justin Hollander.

“It felt good to get back out and be on the mound again,” Woo said, per MLB.com. “All positives.”

Woo, 25, made his first All-Star team this summer in his third MLB season. He finished the regular season with a 2.94 ERA and 0.927 WHIP with 198 strikeouts and 36 walks in 186 2/3 innings pitched.

Woo hasn’t pitched since he left a Sept. 19 start against the Houston Astros due to pectoral tightness. His return would boost a Mariners team in search of its first World Series appearance.
