All-Star Mariners P Bryan Woo reportedly could be in line for Game 5 ALCS return from pectoral injury

The Seattle Mariners stole home-field advantage in a Game 1 ALCS win over the Toronto Raptors Sunday night.

More good news could be on the way.

All-Star pitcher Bryan Woo may be on track to return to the series after being sidelined with pectoral inflammation. Woo participated in batting practice at Rogers Centre ahead of Monday’s Game 2.

Per MLB.com, Woo will be slated for a Game 5 start in Seattle if he responds well from his throwing session. Per the report, Woo would be on a pitch count in that scenario and likely limited to 50 pitches.

All sounded well in the immediate aftermath of Woo’s session, that drew an audience from his teammates and general manager Justin Hollander.

“It felt good to get back out and be on the mound again,” Woo said, per MLB.com. “All positives.”

Woo, 25, made his first All-Star team this summer in his third MLB season. He finished the regular season with a 2.94 ERA and 0.927 WHIP with 198 strikeouts and 36 walks in 186 2/3 innings pitched.

Woo hasn’t pitched since leaving a Sept. 19 start against the Houston Astros with pectoral tightness. His return would further boost a Mariners team off to a hot postseason start in search of its first World Series appearance.
