Tony Yoka posted a video of himself signing a contract for a fight against WBC interim heavyweight champion Agit Kabayel on January 10, 2026, in Oberhausen, Germany. However, promoters Queensberry and Goldstar have yet to make an official announcement for the fight.

Yoka’s Last Chance to Prove Himself

The 2016 Olympic gold medalist Yoka (14-3, 11 KOs) has won his last three fights against low-level opposition after losing three consecutive fights in 2022 to 2023.

Kabayel (26-0, 18 KOs) has looked impressive lately in his recent outings, defeating these highly ranked fighters:

  • Zhilei Zhang (February 22, 2025) by 6th round KO
  • Frank Sanchez (May 18, 2024) by 7th-round KO
  • Arslanbek Makhmudov (December 23, 2023) by 4th round TKO

In Kabayel’s January 10, 2026, title defense of his WBC interim, he’ll be making a homecoming at the Rudolf Weber-Arena in Oberhausen, Germany. In Agit’s three previous fights, he’d fought in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Olympic Gold, Pro Disappointment

Yoka, 33, isn’t the ideal opponent for Kabayel, as the French fighter isn’t highly ranked and is considered by many boxing fans as an example of an Olympic gold medalist who hasn’t panned out in the pro ranks.

The 6’7″ Yoka has been a pro for eight years since 2017, but he’s failed to find the same success that he’d shown in the 2016 Olympics. As an amateur, Yoka’s record is 56-27-1 with 8 knockouts. So, he wasn’t one of the great blue-chip amateurs with an impeccable record in turning professional.

Dubois Fight Still on the Table

Last Saturday night, Kabayel (26-0, 18 KOs) expressed interest in fighting former IBF heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois next. That would be an easy fight to make for Queensberry, as they promote both fighters.

If the idea is to rebuild Dubois (22-3, 21 KOs) following his recent fifth-round knockout loss to WBA, WBC, and WBO champion Oleksandr Usyk on July 19, 2025, it would be a risky move to match him against Kabayel. He could destroy the 28-year-old Dubois’ confidence by knocking him out like he’s done recently against Sanchez, Zhang and Makhmudov.
