MANCHESTER UNITED are targeting a top-five finish next season – and that could be good enough for a Champions League spot.
The Red Devils came 15th last term, their lowest ever in the Prem, but they are determined to turn things around.
Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo set to join summer signing Matheus Cunha at Old Trafford and players have urged for patience.
Amad Diallo wants a return to Europe’s elite competition and is confident of improvements of boss Ruben Amorim.
He said: “A good season will be top five. I hope we can achieve that top five at the end of the season because the fans deserve us.
“They have to be patient with us. There’s a new manager, with new players and new tactics.
“We know last season wasn’t really good for the team, but this season, we will win a lot with him and I hope this season we are going to achieve a lot of good things.
“Everyone is with the manager and trying to follow his system.”
Marcus Rashford’s departure should spark a string of exits, with Antony and Alejandro Garnacho set to follow as Amorim looks to build a close squad full of belief.
Asked about Rashford’s move, after a 20-year association with United, Diallo said: “The only thing I can say is good luck to him, but I’m more focused on United and my team.”
Mbeumo will join that team as they fly out to the United States for the Premier League summer series on Tuesday.
The Cameroon international joins in a £70million deal from Brentford and Diallo is relishing being part for a forward line with him and Cunha.
He added: “Of course I’m looking forward to playing with him.
“We need good players in the team who can bring something to the final third.
“We are really excited to have them in the team and I hope all together we can give something to the fans at the end of the season because they deserve it.”
