Boxing Results: Shields Extends Reign and Harrison Claims Gritty Win

Boxing Results: Shields Extends Reign and Harrison Claims Gritty Win

WBC, WBO, IBF, and WBF Heavyweight champion Claressa ‘T-Rex’ Shields (17-0, 3 KOs) defeated IBF World Light Heavyweight champion Lani Daniels (11-3-2, 1 KO) by a 10-round unanimous decision on Saturday night at the Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan.

In the first four rounds, Shields chased Daniels, easily winning all three rounds. In the fourth round, Shields ended it with a left hook on the chin.

In the fifth round, Daniels decided to stand toe to toe with Shields, who outlanded her. In the sixth round, Shields continued to outscore Daniels. In the seventh round, Shields won again, but Daniels landed the final punch. In the eighth round’s final seconds, Daniels had Shields backed into a corner, exchanging.

In the ninth round’s final minute again, Daniels stood in front of Shields, who was against the ropes in another Shields round. In the tenth and final round, Daniels stood toe to toe with her in a losing but game performance.

The scores were 100-90, 99-91, and 99-91. Juega Langros was the referee.

Light welterweight Samantha Worthington (12-0, 7 KOs) beat Victoire Piteau (14-3, 2 KOs) by a 10-round unanimous decision.

In the first five rounds, Worthington had the edge. In the last five rounds, Piteau came back to make a fight of it.

The scores were 99-91, 95-95, and 96-94.

Former WBC World junior middleweight champion Tony ‘Super Bad’ Harrison (30-4-1, 21 KOs) defeated Edward Ulloa Diaz (15-7, 12 KOs) by a 10-round unanimous decision, coming off the canvas in the ninth.

In the first four rounds, Harrison had the edge. In the sixth round, Diaz landed an overhand right on the chin of Harrison. At the end of the seventh round, Diaz was able to lift Harrison in the air, getting a warning from referee Ben Rodriguez.

In the ninth round’s final seconds, Diaz landed a right cross on the chin, dropping Harrison for an 8-count by referee Rodriguez. In the tenth and final round, it was a close one with Harrison coming back from the previous rounds’ knockdown to take this round by a thin margin.

The scores were 96-93, 98-91, and 97-92.

Heavyweight ‘The Price is Right’ Pryce Taylor (9-0, 6 KOs) easily beat Robert Simms (12-5-1, 3 KOs) by an eight-round unanimous decision.

In the first four rounds, Taylor won all four rounds. In the fifth round, the much overweight Simms was hit with four rights to the head by Taylor at the end of the round.

In the sixth round, Taylor continued beating Simms to the punch, winning another round, ending with two left hooks to the chin. In the seventh round, Taylor came out southpaw, making no difference as he won another round. In the eighth and final rounds, in the final seconds, Taylor landed a right with Simms countering with a left on the chin.

The scores were 80-72, 80-72 and 80-72.
