Boxing Results: Oleksandr Usyk Unleashes a Cataclysmic KO on Daniel Dubois, Forging Undisputed Heavyweight Immortality!

IBO, WBC, and WBO World Heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk (24-0, 15 KOs)  unified the titles, scoring two knockdowns, stopping IBF World Heavyweight champion Daniel ‘Dynamite’ Dubois (22-3, 21 KOs) in the fifth round to capture the undisputed championship on Saturday night at Wembley Stadium in London. Referee Michael Griffin counted out Dubois at 1:52 of round five.

In the first round, Usyk used an effective jab. In the second round, Dubois came back well enough to have an edge. In the third round, Dubois pushed Usyk without warning. Usyk seemed to have some swelling on his lips from a right hand from Dubois. In the fifth round, Usyk dropped Dubois for an 8-count from referee Mike Griffin. Again, Usyk dropped Dubois and was being counted out when his corner threw in the towel.

WBC Silver Heavyweight champion Lawrence ‘The Sauce’ Okolie (22-1, 16 KOs) easily defeated southpaw Kevin ‘The KO Kid’ Lerena (31-4, 15 KOs) by a one-sided 10-round unanimous decision in the chief support bout on the card.

In the first three rounds, Okolie had an edge. In the fifth roun,d Lerena was cut over the left eye. In the seventh round, Okolie landed several rights to start the round off. Lerena seems to do more holding than fighting.

In the eighth round, Lerena finally landed some effective punches, though not enough to win the round. In the ninth round, around Lerena’s left eye was swollen by the end. In the tenth and final round, Okolie continued a tactical performance in a fight with too much holding and a one-sided win for Okolie.

Scores 100-90 twice and 99-91  Victor Loughlin was the referee.

IBF Inter-Continental champion Light Heavyweight southpaw Daniel Lapin (12-0, 4 KOs) won a 10-round majority decision over Lewis ‘The Saint’ Edmondson (11-1, 3 KOs).

In the first three rounds, Edmondson seemed to have a slight edge. In the final minute of the fourth round, Lapin was stunned by Edmonson with a long, left hook on the chin. From the fifth through the seventh, Lapin had an edge.

In the ninth round, after having his best round, Edmondson looked fatigued. In the tenth and final round, both fighters were tired, engaged in a close fight, trying to pull ahead, with Lapin having an edge.

Scores 95-95, 96-94, and 96-94. Marcus McDonnell was the referee.

Super Lightweight Lasha Guruli (2-0, 1 KO) stopped James ‘Two Dogs’ Francis (7-2, 1 KO) at 0:02 of the fifth of a scheduled six rounds.

In the first three rounds, it was all Guruli outworking Francis. In the fourth, Guruli gave Francis a good beating. As the bell started for the fifth, the fight was waved off after the ring physician checked Francis between rounds. Amy was the referee.

Welterweight southpaw Aadam ‘Prince’ Hamed (7-0, 3 KOs) defeated Ezequiel Gregores (3-25) by a four-round points decision.

In the first three rounds, Hamed had his way for the most part, using an effective jab. At the end of the third round, Gregores landed the final punch. In the fourth and final round, Gregores was warned by referee Amy Pu about charging in using his head. Gregores had a bloody nose at the end. When he would land a punch, Hamed would move away and counter easily, winning all four rounds.

Referee Pu scored it 40-36.

Former WBO Asia Pacific champion Heavyweight Vladyslav Sirenko (22-1, 19 KOs) was upset by decision by the former British champ Solomon ‘The Meal Deal’ Dacres (10-1, 3 KOs) by a 10-round unanimous decision.

In the first two rounds, Sirenko outlanded Dacres. In the third round, Dacres landed a solid left hook to the chin, best so far.

In the fifth round, Dacres seemed to win another round, out-landing Sirenko. In the ninth round, Sirenko kept going forward. In the final minute, Dacres landed a left uppercut to the chin that had no effect on Sirenko, though Dacres may have won another round. In the tenth and final round, it went back and forth to a close round won by Dacres.

The scores were 99-91, 98-92, and 99-92. Bob Williams was the referee.
