PATRICK BAMFORD is set to leave Leeds after being told he is not in Daniel Farke’s plans.
The Leeds boss pulled his striker aside just two days into pre-season training to deliver the bad news.
Bamford, 31, has been with Leeds for the past seven years, scoring 60 goals, but has been beset with injury issues.
Farke handed a first start to new striker Lukas Nmecha in their goalless draw with Manchester United in Stockholm, while Bamford was left at home.
Farke said: “I had a really open and honest conversation.
“I would have preferred a completely fit Patrick Bamford in the last two seasons. He knows how much I rate him as a person.
“It was the second day of pre-season when I told him in my office that he wasn’t part of my plans for the upcoming Premier League season, due to the fact that he’s had really difficult years over the past few years.”
Leeds have also agreed a £17million deal with German club Hoffenheim for midfielder Anton Stach.
Farke’s side have been busy in the transfer window so far, splashing out on two new centre-backs in Jaka Bijol and Sebastian Bornauw.
Gabriel Gudmundsson was also signed following the exits of Junior Firpo and Rasmus Kristensen.
And earlier this week, Leeds pulled off a deal for Newcastle midfielder Sean Longstaff.
Meanwhile, SunSport exclusively revealed this month that Leeds are interested in striker Callum Wilson.
The veteran is a free agent after leaving Newcastle and is eager to remain in the Premier League.
He understands his fitness and injury history could be an issue.
And Wilson is hoping to land a pay-as-you-play deal to move to Elland Road.
