Jack Grealish ‘agrees to train away from Man City first team’ as three clubs consider move for England star

JACK GREALISH has reportedly agreed to train away from the rest of the Manchester City team as he looks for an exit route from the club.

Grealish, 29, looks set for a move away from the Etihad this summer after struggling for minutes last season.

The winger has been unable to tie down a place as a regular starter under Pep Guardiola in recent seasons and started just seven Premier League games last term.

While Guardiola chose to leave Grealish out of City’s squad for their Club World Cup exploits this summer.

According to the Telegraph, Grealish has now agreed to return to Man City to train individually amid speculation around his future.

Until now, Grealish had been working with his personal trainer to ensure he is in the best condition for the fast-approaching season.

The former Aston Villa star will return to City’s training ground this week, with the rest of the squad not due to report for pre-season training until July 28.

Grealish is thought to have been told he can leave Man City, but a deal is yet to materialise.

However his hefty wage, and the £100m City splashed on him back in 2021, are complicating an exit.

The Telegraph reports that Premier League duo West Ham and Everton have both discussed a loan move for the 39-time England cap.

While they also claim Serie A champions Napoli have considered a move, but Grealish’s salary is likely to be an issue for Antonio Conte’s side.

Napoli have already signed Kevin De Bruyne this summer following the expiration of his deal at Man City.

Jack Grealish has gone from eye-catching showman and heartthrob to miserable bench warmer – and I know who’s to blame

It’s understood that the decision for Grealish to train away from the group is not a punishment, but rather a collaborative decision made between Grealish and the club.

Grealish has maintained that he still loves Man City in the midst of the swirling rumours around his exit.

Filmed talking to a City fan at Oasis’ Heaton Park gig last week, Grealish said: “You know what? Bro, I love City more than anything.

“And do you know what I love more than anything? City fans. They’re the best fans in the world”.

Reports earlier this month suggested that City would be willing to sell the 39-time England international for around £40m.

Grealish has been criticised for off-field antics during his struggles at City, but Guardiola has insisted that he didn’t leave him out of the Club World Cup squad as a result of those problems.

He said: “The only reason he didn’t play minutes was me, not because he was incorrect or whatever.

“I want the best for Jack, his partner, his kids, his family.

“I don’t know what’s going to happen right now or have any doubts about the qualities of Jack. The quality has always been there, the year of the Treble would have been impossible.”

Grealish’s current terms at the Etihad run until 2027.
