Noni Madueke’s Arsenal comments come back to bite him as he closes in on £52m transfer from Chelsea

NONI MADUEKE could regret his choice of words as previous comments of his cast a shadow on his nearing move to Arsenal.

The winger did not bite his tongue during a 2023 interview following his move to Arsenal’s London rivals Chelsea.

In an interview shortly after joining the Blues, Madueke said there was “never any doubt at all” in regard to what club he wanted to join.

He continued: “[Chelsea] is the biggest club in London.”

The 23-year-old must wish he had possessed the power of prophecy at the time, as a potential move to the Gunners draws closer.

It is not the only time that the winger’s words have gotten him in hot water.

During a trip away to Wolves at the beginning of last season’s Premier League, Madueke posted an instagram story bashing the region with expletives.

He tagged Wolverhampton on his story alongside the words “This place is s**t.”

He subsequently apologised for his comments, but only after leaving Wolves fans even more angry after scoring a hat-trick in a 6-2 victory at Molineux later that day.

The Athletic report that Madueke has been given the green light to leave Chelsea’s Club World Cup Camp in America.

He will forego training and travel back to the UK to undertake his medical with Arsenal.

The deal is expected to be worth £52 million, with Madueke set to sign on a five-year contract.

The news of his impending signing has not gone down well with all fans of the club, with some going out of their way to start an online petition against signing the player.

Perhaps the #NoToMadueke petition will have a few more numbers to add to its tally of almost 4,500 when Arsenal fans get wind of who he thinks is the biggest club in London.
