Taylor vs Serrano 3 Friday Night, Live On Netflix

Once again, two of the most iconic figures in the sport of women’s boxing are set to face each other, as the undisputed super-lightweight world champion Katie Taylor (24-1, 6 KOs ) will defend her crown against Amanda “The Real Deal” Serrano (47-3-1, 31 KOs).

When it comes to the growth in the popularity of the sport of women’s boxing, Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano are two of the pioneers. Their epic trilogy fight is scheduled to take place on Friday night, July 11th, at Madison Square Garden, airing live on Netflix.

Back in April 2022, Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano made history as they became the first female boxers to headline a fight card at Madison Square Garden. In front of a sold-out crowd of 19,187, Serrano and Taylor delivered an instant classic.

The first four rounds showcased back-and-forth action as the southpaw Amanda Serrano was pressing forward, landing power shots to the head and the body. The defending champion Katie Taylor was fighting off the back foot and landing solid counter-shots.

With 48 seconds left to go in the 5th round, Serrano landed a hard left-hand shot that buckled Taylor’s knees. Serrano went on to hit Taylor with a flurry of power punches, but Taylor was able to survive the round.

For the second half of the undisputed world title bout, the rounds were filled with non-stop crowd-pleasing action. At the conclusion of the contest, the defending champion Katie Taylor was awarded the split-decision victory.

Two years later as the co-main of the Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul event, Katie Taylor defended her undisputed super-lightweight crown against Amanda Serrano. In the closing seconds of round one, Serrano connected with a powerful left-hand shot that staggered Taylor.

Once again, the Taylor vs Serrano bout was action-packed, but along with the action was a bit of controversy. In the fourth round of the bout, a clash of heads caused a cut by Serrano’s right eye.

Serrano’s cut issue became worse when Taylor connected with another headbutt in the sixth round. As the tactical headbutting continued, the referee finally stepped in and deducted a point from Taylor in the eighth round.

The last two rounds of the bout featured Amanda Serrano’s punching power versus Katie Taylor’s hand speed. To most, it appeared as if Amanda Serrano was the victor, but at the conclusion of the bout, Katie Taylor was declared the unanimous decision winner.

Now, after the controversial second fight, on Friday night, July 11th, the epic trilogy bout will take place at Madison Square Garden. The breakdown of this fight is obvious, because we know what we’re going to see when Taylor and Serrano face each other.

The expectations for a Taylor vs Serrano clash are a 10-round, fast-paced fight consisting of non-stop action. It’s Serrano’s power and aggression versus Taylor’s hand speed, movement, and counter-punching.

Amanda Serrano has been vocal regarding her belief that she won the first two fights. She also spoke about the headbutting controversy. During a recent press conference, Katie Taylor addressed those issues.

“I have my own opinion about the stuff Amanda has been saying on our team, but the fact is I am 2-0 against her,” Taylor said. “Opinions are opinions, but facts are facts, and you can’t get away from those facts. And yeah, I guess I’m just tired of the complaining and whining from Amanda’s team.”

The challenger, Amanda Serrano, believes she won the first two fights, but due to the fact that she fell short on the scorecards both times, she decided to make adjustments for the trilogy bout.

“I’m going to use my head, but not in the way it was used on me. We’re just going to be smarter. I did work a lot smarter for this fight, and I believe that we can come out victorious. We will come out victorious.”

On Friday night at Madison Square Garden, live on Netflix, two generational talents will compete against each other for a third time. Taylor will be attempting to secure a clean sweep, while Serrano is planning on getting the initial victory and winning the undisputed world title in front of her home crowd.
